Sex scandal: Police arraign four Chrisland Schools teachers

Police have arraigned four teachers of Chrisland Schools before the Magistrate Court sitting in the Yaba area of Lagos State, following the controversial immoral act engaged in by the students of the school during a trip to Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The defendants arraigned before the court on Tuesday were the teachers who accompanied some students of the school to the World School Games in Dubai.

It would be recalled that the Lagos State Police Command said it had begun an investigation into the alleged viral rape video depicting students of Chrisland Schools.

Spokesman for the command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement, said that the investigation would establish the identities of the players in the video, the true incident in the video, and the geographical location of the incident.

The police spokesperson added that the investigation would also cover the alleged threat to life against a student of the school, and circumstances surrounding the alleged repeated pregnancy tests conducted on a student without parental consent.

The video of a 10-year-old female student of Chrisland Schools Lagos, allegedly raped by fellow students during a trip to Dubai, had gone viral after it was shared by music manager, Ubi Franklin, on his social media accounts.

The 10-year-old girl was videotaped while the sexual act was ongoing.

The incident occurred when the students traveled to Dubai to participate in the World School Games from March 10 to 13, where the school won over 30 medals.

Her mother, who alleged the girl was raped, accused the management of Chrisland Schools of conducting a pregnancy test on her without parental consent.

The allegations were, however, denied by the school.

The 10-year-old girl was suspended by the management of Chrisland Schools, while the Lagos State Government announced the closure of the school over sexual misconduct.

Announcing the closure in a statement on April 18, the state government said all allegations were being investigated by the relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, including the Ministry of Education, Office of Education Quality Assurance, Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Ministry of Justice, and the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency.

The state government later ordered the reopening of the school, saying the directive followed a review of the ongoing investigation into the incident which led to the closure of the school.
