Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, says the purported investment of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, in the state government “is worth next to nothing”.
Obi was the governor of Anambra State from 2006 to 2014.
The LP presidential flag-bearer, ahead of the 2023 general election, said he made several investments in the state.
However, Governor Soludo, while speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s programme, Politics Today, on Thursday, said he is not aware of any investment in the state by Obi and his other predecessors.
The governor stated that with what he has seen in Anambra State, the value of the alleged investments “is worth next to nothing”.

“I don’t know about the investment. Our interview is about the 2023 budget. I’m not talking about the investments of any of my predecessors. By the way, the one that you talked about I don’t know about that.
“I think there was something I read about somebody speculating about whatever investment. With what I’ve seen today, the value of those investments is worth next to nothing. So, let’s leave that aside,” Soludo said.
The governor further reiterated his commitment to investing in infrastructure, saying that would better the lives of the citizens of Anambra State.
“First of all, you have to rebuild the public infrastructure, that is building the future. We are investing in our schools, hospital.
“We are creating Anambra as Africa’s leisure entertainment hub, modernising our cities, embarking on urban regeneration, giving our people light so that they can have quality air to breathe, controlling pollution, and dealing with flooding and erosion that is ravaging everywhere.
“I’m not going to leave those and say I’m saving money to go and invest in one private company,” Governor Soludo added.
He further stated that his administration would work with the private sector and international development financial institutions to develop Anambra State, stressing that this would help to fund more projects.
