Soun stool: What God, Adeboye told me ― Pastor Olaoye

The Senior Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Jesus House Washington DC Parish, Pastor Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye, has revealed what God and the General Overseer of the RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, told him in his quest to become the new Soun of Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

Pastor Olaoye had been selected by the Ogbomoso Kingmakers as the next Soun of Ogbomosoland to succeed Oba Jimoh Oyewumi Ajagungbade 1, who joined his ancestors on December 12, 2021.

Mixed reactions had trailed the selection of the United States-based pastor of the RCCG to become the traditional ruler of the Oyo community.

However, in a video obtained by The Star on Tuesday, Pastor Olaoye, disclosed that God told him to become the Soun of Ogbomosoland.

He revealed that God told him “you are born for this, this is the reason for your path”.

The pastor added that he also sought the advice of the RCCG General Overseer, who told him to vie for the throne.

In the clip, Olaoye, who addressed members of the church, said it was never his ambition to become the Soun.

Olaoye, while revealing what Pastor Adeboye told him, said: “Don’t say you are not interested. I asked why he said this type of thing, you brought it from heaven. Of course, you are born into a royal family, you brought it from heaven so don’t say you are not interested.

“So, he told me to go and pray and fast about it but I didn’t pray and fast because I was never interested.

“And later I asked him, do you know of any pastor who left pastoring and went to become an Oba. He said of course he can tell me four, he called two and he tried to remember the name of the other two pastors.

“So, he told me I can go ahead. He told me he never wanted to become the General Overseer and he told me I can see what he is doing now.

“He said go ahead and do whatever you have to do.”
