Stock market opens week bullish as investors gain N1.04trn

The Nigerian stock market open the week on a positive note on Monday, September 7, 2026, extending gains from the previous sessions and leading to N1.042 trillion gains for investors.

The positive performance was driven by continued demand for the agriculture, oil and gas, ICT, consumer goods, financial services, industrial goods, and services sectors.

The market capitalisation, which opened at N159.558 trillion, added N1.042 trllion to close at N160.600 trillion.

The All-Share Index also gained 0.29 per cent or 707.78 points, to settle at 247,699.78, against 246,992.44 recorded on Friday.

The Year-To-Date (YTD) return increased to 59.18 per cent, while the market breadth closed negative with 43 losers and 12 gainers.

Caverton Offshore Support Group and Omatek led the losers’ chart by 10 per cent each, settling at N4.05 and 1.53 per share, respectively.

Critical Minerals Financing Corp dipped by 9.85 per cent, closing at N2.38. Sunu Assurances shed by 9.42 per cent, finishing at N2.98, while Daar Communications dropped by 9.41 per cent, ending the session at N1.54 per share.

Nigeria records N41.44trn trade, N12.59trn surplus in Q2 2026

On the gainers’ chart, Zichis Agro Allied Industries led by 9.97 per cent, closing at N18.20, Aradel Holdings trailed by 5.38 per cent, finishing at N1,570, and Secure Electronic Technology increased by 4.29 per cent, ending the session at 73k per share.

International Breweries advanced by 3.02 per cent, settling at N10.25, while MTN Nigeria grew by 2.45 per cent, closing at N832.90 per share.

Market activity weakened during the session, as total volume traded fell by 81.81 per cent to 407.85 million shares, valued at N27.25 billion across 52,322 deals.

Access Corporation led the volume chart with 40.04 million shares traded, accounting for 9.82 per cent of the day’s total volume.

Aradel Holdings recorded the highest value of transactions at N7.59 billion, representing 27.85 per cent of the total value traded.
