Gunmen suspected to be cultists have killed a final year student of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) in a room at the Hall 3 residence of the institution.
It was gathered that the student, identified simply as Desmond, popularly known as ‘Mayor’, was shot dead by cultists at about 9 p.m. on Monday.

Desmond, who was said to be a Kegite chief, was a final year student in the Department of Public Administration.
It was learned that the student’s remains had been deposited at the mortuary of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital.
Meanwhile, the UNIBEN management has yet to speak on the incident as of press time.
