The suspended Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, Maryam Suleiman, says Governor Uba Sani was involved in the loans secured by the administration of his predecessor, Nasir El-Rufai.
The Kaduna APC had, on March 31, 2024, suspended Suleiman for defending El-Rufai over the alleged recent controversy on the state’s huge debt.
The Star recalls that Governor Sani, last Friday, lamented the high debt profile he inherited from El-Rufai.
Sani, who spoke at a town hall meeting in Kaduna, said his administration inherited a debt burden of $587 million, N85 billion, and 115 contractual liabilities from the immediate past administration.
Reacting to the allegation via a viral video, the APC women leader lashed out at the governor over his remarks.
Suleiman, who spoke in Hausa language in the video, accused Governor Sani of mismanagement and urged him to refrain from attributing his failures to El-Rufai.

However, the suspended women leader, in an interview with Punch on Monday, April 1, said she has no regrets over his criticisms of Sani.
She further described her suspension by the APC for criticising the governor as an act of God, saying she remained unperturbed by the suspension.
Suleiman said she was only aware of her suspension on social media, noting that 24 hours after the announcement, she had yet to be served any letter of suspension from her Nasarawa/Malaki Ward in Kaduna State.
She said: “I only heard of my suspension on social media. I am yet to be served the suspension letter.
“In any case, I stand by what I said about the governor. I have no regrets at all. I remained unruffled by my actions because I stated the obvious.
“As a senator, Governor Uba Sani is the arrowhead of securing loans by El-Rufai administration. He was deeply involved in that.”
