Three suspected bandit financiers arrested in Sokoto

The Sokoto State Police Command has arrested three suspected financiers and informants of bandit groups, including Ruwa Ginyo, the Fulani head of Gidan-Madi in Tangaza Local Government Area.

The suspects, believed to be brokers for the notorious Lakurawa bandits, were apprehended on December 3, 2025, at about 2:00 p.m. while attempting to sell four rustled cows to unsuspecting buyers.

During interrogation, the men reportedly confessed to helping the bandits dispose of stolen cattle and remitting the proceeds to the criminal group.

According to police sources, all suspects remain in custody as investigations continue to uncover additional networks and recover more stolen livestock.
