Tinubu commissions homes for banditry victims in Kaduna

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s commitment to restoring peace, stability, and law and order across Nigeria, particularly in regions plagued by insecurity and violence.

Represented by the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, Tinubu gave the assurance during the commissioning of the first phase of housing projects for victims of banditry in Kaduna State. The project, executed in partnership with the Qatar Charity Organization, forms part of the federal government’s broader efforts to rebuild and rehabilitate affected communities.

“Nigeria is in safe hands, and we will restore law and order. That is an assurance we are giving. It will be done,” Tinubu said.

The president noted that significant progress has been made in restoring peace and rebuilding communities in Kaduna State. “Recovery is ongoing, and it is clear that fresh air is blowing through Kaduna. Things are changing,” he stated.

He emphasized that good governance must address the needs of people affected by violence, saying, “We are wiping the tears of victims of extreme violence. We are reconciling communities and giving everyone a sense of inclusion and belonging.”

Tinubu praised the Kaduna State Government, the Office of the National Security Adviser, and the Chief of Defence Staff for adopting both kinetic (military) and non-kinetic (community engagement and dialogue) approaches to combat insecurity. He commended the “Kaduna Peace Model” as a community-driven strategy built on intelligence and local understanding, stressing that lasting peace must be nurtured, not forced.

He highlighted the reopening of the Birnin Gwari Market and the return of displaced farmers to their homes as clear signs of progress. “This is a public declaration that Kaduna is wearing a new face—a face of hope, reality, and rebuilding,” he said.

Speaking directly to victims, President Tinubu acknowledged their suffering. “We heard you. You are victims of extreme violence, but we are with you. Your government sees you and acknowledges your pains.”

He thanked Qatar Charity for their support and assured Nigerians that his administration remains committed to achieving tangible, impactful, and lasting results for those most affected by insecurity.

“The fight against terrorism remains a challenge,” Tinubu concluded, “but tackling it is a top priority under our national security agenda.”
