President Bola Tinubu on Friday said his administration is expanding economic opportunities in the Federal Capital Territory through sustained investment in road infrastructure, declaring that the newly completed Collector Roads 01 and 02 in Mabushi District will improve connectivity and boost economic activities across Abuja.
Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the inauguration of the roads linking the Mabushi Bus Terminal to Ahmadu Bello Way, the President said the project would ease traffic congestion, reduce travel time and enhance mobility for residents.
“We are not just opening two roads. We are opening up Abuja. We are connecting people to opportunity and cutting hours of waste from daily life,” Tinubu said.
He noted that commuters had for years endured traffic bottlenecks, long detours and delays due to poor road connectivity, adding that the new infrastructure would significantly improve movement within the district.

According to the President, better road networks would stimulate business activities, strengthen security and improve productivity.
“When roads connect, businesses grow. When movement is easy, productivity rises. When travel is safe, citizens are free. That is the Renewed Hope Agenda at work,” he stated.
Tinubu described infrastructure as the backbone of economic development, saying roads serve as vital channels for commerce, national unity and social progress.
He also thanked residents for their patience during the construction period and urged them to protect the public infrastructure.
The President commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for driving ongoing infrastructural development across Abuja.
“I gave you a simple charge: ‘Make Abuja work for all.’ You took it and ran with it. From satellite towns to the city centre, you are turning blueprints into roads people can drive on today,” Tinubu said.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building an inclusive and world-class capital city through sustained infrastructure development.
Earlier, Wike attributed the rapid transformation of the FCT to Tinubu’s support and commitment to infrastructure.
He said the commissioning formed part of the ongoing 31-day inauguration of projects marking the administration’s third anniversary, adding that every district in the FCT would benefit from development projects.
According to the minister, the newly completed roads have already attracted real estate investment and accelerated development within the Mabushi District.
“Without this road, these houses would not have come up. Investors are coming because infrastructure has arrived,” Wike said.
He argued that road construction remains the foundation of economic growth, creating jobs, increasing property values and attracting investment.
The minister also praised Tinubu for consistently providing the resources needed to execute projects across the FCT, assuring residents that development would continue in both the city centre and satellite communities.
Also speaking, the Minister of State for the FCT, Dr Mariya Mahmoud, said Tinubu’s commitment to infrastructure was transforming Abuja under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
She described Wike as a “master builder” of the nation’s capital and urged residents to protect public infrastructure while supporting the government’s development efforts.
