Tinubu fed you for decades — FFK slams Momodu over criticism

Nigerian ambassador-designate Femi Fani-Kayode has called on veteran journalist and politician Dele Momodu to stop criticising President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, claiming the president had been a longstanding benefactor to him.

Fani-Kayode made the remarks on Thursday in Abuja while reacting to Momodu’s recent comments during a television appearance, where he compared Tinubu’s leadership style to that of former military ruler Sani Abacha.

Describing Momodu’s remarks as “misguided” and “uncharitable,” Fani-Kayode said the criticism reflected “a worrisome level of cognitive dissonance.”

Momodu had earlier responded to criticism from Fani-Kayode and Reno Omokri, branding them as “perpetual agents of perfidy” lacking credibility.

In his latest statement, Fani-Kayode alleged that Momodu had benefited from Tinubu’s support for nearly four decades, including receiving personal assistance and accommodation, yet failed to back him politically.

“Unlike Dele, I did not benefit from him for close to 40 years, eat from his plate, or collect handouts from him,” he said.

He also criticised Momodu’s response as “emotional” and “devoid of logic,” urging him to “stay in his lane” and refrain from further attacks on the president.

Fani-Kayode warned that he would no longer tolerate what he described as misrepresentation of facts or personal attacks, adding that his previous restraint was due to their longstanding relationship.

The former aviation minister reaffirmed his loyalty to Tinubu, noting that he actively supported his 2023 presidential campaign and continues to back his administration’s reform agenda.

He also dismissed opposition figures aligned with Momodu, describing them as lacking the credibility and capacity to govern effectively.

Fani-Kayode maintained that Tinubu’s reforms since assuming office are vital for Nigeria’s stability and prosperity, stressing that national interest should take precedence over political differences.

He further argued that comparing Tinubu to Abacha was inappropriate, stating that under a true dictatorship, critics would face severe consequences.

Concluding, Fani-Kayode said he would no longer remain silent in the face of continued criticism directed at the president by Momodu and his allies.
