President Bola Tinubu has congratulated winners of the recent elections held in the Federal Capital Territory, Kano State and Rivers State, urging them to serve with humility and dedication.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President noted that the Independent National Electoral Commission conducted chairmanship and councillorship elections across the FCT’s six area councils, alongside state constituency by-elections in Kano and Rivers.
Results released so far show that the All Progressives Congress secured victories in Abaji, Kwali, Abuja Municipal (AMAC) and Bwari Area Councils, while the Peoples Democratic Party won in Gwagwalada.
The ruling party also claimed both state assembly seats contested in Rivers.
The President described the electoral mandate as a sacred trust and called on those elected to prioritise service to the people.
He also praised Wike for what he called notable developmental strides in the FCT, saying the achievements translated into political gains for the APC.
Tinubu further congratulated the APC’s national leadership, as well as party structures in Kano and Rivers, while commending INEC, security agencies and voters for the peaceful conduct of the polls.
He added that the elections reflected progress in Nigeria’s democratic process and encouraged INEC to continue improving electoral delivery.
However, reports indicated low voter turnout, with opposition parties raising concerns over alleged irregularities.
The PDP has since inaugurated a legal team to pursue election petitions arising from the FCT area council polls.
