President Bola Tinubu has intervened in the rift between Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and his predecessor Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The rift, which led to a political crisis in Rivers State, appeared to have ceased as parties reached a truce on Monday night.

This was after President Tinubu met with Wike, Fubara; his deputy, Ngozi Odu; a former governor of Rivers State, Peter Odili; and other stakeholders at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday night.

Also present at the meeting was Vice President Kashim Shettima; the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; and the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.

Tinubu, in an eight-point resolution signed at the end of the meeting on Monday, directed that all lawsuits instituted in courts by Fubara and his team regarding the political crisis in Rivers State be withdrawn immediately.

The president ordered that all impeachment proceedings initiated by the Rivers State House of Assembly against Fubara should be dropped immediately.
