Tinubu orders security agencies to rescue abducted students, IDPs in Kaduna, Borno

President Bola Tinubu has directed security agencies in the country to immediately rescue the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and the students abducted by gunmen in Borno and Kaduna states, respectively.

The victims in Borno State, who were said to be about 40, were abducted after Boko Haram terrorists attacked three IDPs camps in Ngala town, the headquarters of Gamboru Ngala Local Government Area of the state on Monday, March 4, 2024.

Scores of students of LEA Primary and Secondary School in Kuriga, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State were also abducted by bandits on Thursday, March 7.

The number of the abducted students has yet to be ascertained but reports claimed the victims were over 100.

Kaduna gov: We’ll rescue abducted students safely

However, President Tinubu, in a statement issued on Friday by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, condemned the abductions and directed security and intelligence agencies to immediately rescue the victims and ensure that justice is served against the perpetrators of “these abominable acts”.

He added: “I have received a briefing from security chiefs on the two incidents, and I am confident that the victims will be rescued.

“Nothing else is acceptable to me and the waiting family members of these abducted citizens. Justice will be decisively administered.”

Tinubu sympathised with the families of the victims and assured them that they would soon be reunited with their loved ones.
