Tinubu-Shettima ticket Nigeria’s most formidable — APC chair

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has described President Bola Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima’s ticket as the most formidable political combination in Nigeria’s democratic history, urging Nigerians to re-elect the President in 2027.

Yilwatda said a second term for Tinubu would enable the administration to consolidate its economic reforms and infrastructure development initiatives.

He made the remarks on Saturday at the Rainbow Coalition presidential campaign rally held at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, the APC chairman described Tinubu as a courageous leader who had demonstrated the capacity to confront Nigeria’s longstanding economic challenges.

“The most formidable presidential ticket we have ever produced in Nigeria is the Tinubu-Shettima ticket. We have a candidate in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who is fearless, courageous and determined to confront the challenges of our country.

“He has demonstrated the capacity to take difficult decisions in the national interest, and he has remained resolute in pursuing the transformation of Nigeria,” Yilwatda said.

He defended the administration’s economic policies, including the removal of petrol subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange market, describing them as necessary measures to strengthen public finances and lay the foundation for sustainable economic growth.

The APC chairman acknowledged that the reforms had imposed significant challenges on households and businesses but said the government was addressing their effects through social interventions, infrastructure investments and economic stabilisation measures.

Yilwatda also praised Tinubu’s infrastructure programme, particularly major highway projects designed to improve connectivity, facilitate trade and reduce transportation costs.

He said the administration’s investments in road infrastructure would support agriculture, commerce, industrialisation and national integration.

According to him, Nigerians should sustain the reform trajectory under the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda to enable the government to deliver greater economic benefits.

The APC chairman further expressed confidence in the growing political support for Tinubu’s re-election bid in Rivers State, commending members of the Rainbow Coalition for aligning behind the President.

He said the political cooperation involving Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike and other stakeholders would strengthen the President’s electoral prospects in the state.

“Come 2027, we want to continue with this reformer and performer as our President. That is why the coalition and the people of Rivers State, irrespective of political party, have decided to work together for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.

Yilwatda predicted that Rivers State would deliver overwhelming votes for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

“Come January 2027, Rivers State will stand still. With the mobilisation capacity of the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike, and other political leaders and stakeholders, we are confident that Rivers will deliver maximum votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he added.
