Tinubu to commission key FCT projects, visit area councils

President Bola Tinubu will on Tuesday begin the commissioning of major infrastructure projects across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as part of activities marking the third anniversary of his administration.

FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, disclosed this on Monday during an inspection tour of ongoing projects in Abuja, saying the president will kick off the exercise with the inauguration of the second phase of the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) Main Carriageways.

According to Wike, the project is fully completed and ready for commissioning.

He said the commissioning programme would continue on Wednesday with the inauguration of Arterial Road N5 in Life Camp, while the newly dualised Airport-to-Kuje Highway 105 will be commissioned on Thursday.

Wike noted that the projects were delivered within schedule and commended the contractors involved for meeting agreed timelines.

“These projects are 100 per cent complete and ready for commissioning. What is important is that we have achieved the timeline, and I commend the contractors for keeping to their promises,” he said.

The minister also revealed that President Tinubu would extend the commissioning tour to satellite towns and Area Councils, where additional projects aimed at improving the lives of rural residents would be inaugurated.

He described the planned visits as evidence of the administration’s commitment to balanced development across the FCT.

Wike attributed the successful completion of the projects to the support and directives of President Tinubu, whom he praised for sustaining projects regardless of the administration under which they were initiated.

“The credit must go to Mr President, who has given the support and direction that made these achievements possible,” he said.

On the delay in opening newly completed bus terminals in the FCT, Wike explained that the facilities are undergoing the required procurement and concession processes under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement approved by the Federal Executive Council.

According to him, the concessionaire is currently assembling buses and taxis to ensure smooth operations when the terminals become operational.

He urged residents to be patient, stressing that government procedures must be followed before the facilities can be handed over for commercial use.
