Less than 24 hours after supporters of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo kickstarted his 2023 presidential campaign in Kano, another top presidential contender, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday visited the ancient city.
While Osinbajo’s supporters launched the Vice President’s bid for the Presidency, Tinubu came on the guise of condolence visits.
Earlier on Sunday, Tinubu paid a condolence visit to Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State over the recent assassination of his Commissioner for Science and Technology, Dr. Rabe Nasir.
Tinubu, who was received by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje at the Mallam Aminu Kano Airport, proceeded to late Sheik Ahmad Ibrahim Bomba home around BUK old site to condole with his families.
Similarly, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) visited the residence of 1993 presidential candidate of the National Republican Convention (NRC), the late Alhaji Bashir Tofa at Gandun Albasa.
At Tofa’s residence, Tinubu described the late politician as a gentleman for accepting defeat in the election acclaimed to have been won by the late Chief MKO Abiola.

“What Tofa did in 1993 was by a gentleman which clearly shows his humility, consideration and love for a peaceful Nigeria. This should be emulated by politicians,” Tinubu said.
At the residence of the late National President of Council of Sharia, Dr. Ibrahim Datti Ahmad, the APC leader offered prayers for the reposed of the soul of the departed medical doctor.
Large crowd of supporters received Tinubu at the Kano airport. The huge crowd followed him to the residences where he paid condolence visits.
The crowd of supporters were shouting: “Tinubu, you are our next President”.
