President Bola Tinubu and his wife, Oluremi Tinubu, on Saturday voted at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary in Ward E, Ikoyi, Lagos, as the party commenced its nationwide exercise ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The couple arrived at the venue amid tight security and a large turnout of party members, supporters, and media personnel, who thronged the area to witness the exercise.
Footage from the scene showed the president and the First Lady making their way through a crowded venue filled with APC supporters dressed in party colours and traditional attire.
The ward-level primary forms part of the party’s internal process for selecting its presidential candidate, with Tinubu seeking re-nomination as the APC flagbearer for the 2027 election.
Speaking after casting his vote, the president described the exercise as a reflection of internal democracy within the party, expressing satisfaction with the conduct of the process nationwide.
He said the primaries demonstrated grassroots participation, noting that every party member had the opportunity to be involved in the decision-making process.
Tinubu also commended APC governors for overseeing the exercise in their respective states, saying the process—from congresses to accreditation and validation—had been well organised.
According to him, the conduct of the primaries so far reflects a high standard of democratic practice within the ruling party.
