Tobi Makinde dismisses rift rumours with Funke Akindele

Nollywood actor Tobi Makinde has dismissed rumours of a fallout with filmmaker Funke Akindele, saying her absence from his wedding was due to work commitments and not any disagreement between them.

Speaking in an interview with TVC, Makinde said Akindele was busy promoting one of her films at the time of the ceremony, adding that her absence was understandable.

“There’s no problem. It was a period when she was promoting her film and we all know how seriously she takes her craft, so it’s very understandable,” he said.

The actor noted that it was unrealistic to expect every invited guest to attend a wedding, stressing that several people he invited were unable to make it.

“Not everybody you invite to your wedding is going to come. Not everybody I invited came. So there’s no problem in that department,” he added.

Makinde also acknowledged Akindele’s impact on his acting career, describing her as someone who had contributed significantly to his growth in the film industry.

“She has contributed immensely to my career. That’s what growth is about,” he said.

His comments sparked reactions on social media, with many users supporting his explanation and criticising attempts to portray his relationship with Akindele as strained.
