Tonto Dikeh shares emotional testimony of overcoming tobacco addiction

Nollywood actress and philanthropist Tonto Dikeh has shared a deeply personal testimony detailing her long struggle with addiction, anger, and inner turmoil, and how faith helped her find healing and peace.

In the emotional account, Dikeh revealed that she started smoking at the age of 13, describing it as “intense smoking,” a habit that lasted for 27 years.

She said her exposure to smoking began at home, noting that her father was a smoker, a situation she now warns parents against repeating with their children.

The actress also spoke about battling what she described as “demonic anger” and living most of her life without inner peace.

“I’m 40 years old, but I have never known peace,” she said, explaining that despite outward success, she struggled internally for years.

Dikeh further disclosed her past struggles with alcoholism, saying she drank heavily and often avoided public outings so people would not notice her condition.

She added that she also battled masturbation, a struggle she said God delivered her from after she fully surrendered her life to Him.

According to her, the turning point came when she prayed sincerely for divine help, admitting she could not overcome her addictions alone.

She said the Holy Spirit first made her feel ashamed of habits she was previously comfortable with, and from that shame came revival.

She described quitting smoking and drinking suddenly as a shocking but life-changing experience.

Tonto Dikeh said she shared her testimony to inspire others facing similar struggles, emphasizing that healing and transformation are possible.

“I’m here to give this testimony so that others can learn,” she said, urging people not to give up on themselves and to seek help and change.
