Transfer: Alvarez considers Arsenal move as Jackson set to replace Watkins at Aston Villa

Julian Alvarez is not training with Atletico Madrid for a second day running due to illness amid doubts over his future at the club.

Alvarez was booed off by supporters on Sunday and missed training on Wednesday.

The forward has had his heart set on a move to Barcelona and has been told again by Atletico that he will not be sold to the club.

Alvarez, however, is understood to be starting to consider whether a potential move to Arsenal would be right for him.

Liverpool are yet to receive any official approaches for attacking duo Harvey Elliott or Federico Chiesa but the club are willing to listen to offers for the duo this week.

Wolves have signed Sporting goalkeeper Joao Virgina for £1.3m.

Manchester City boss Enzo Maresca has confirmed Omar Marmoush is set to leave the club. The Egyptian forward has been linked with a loan move to Tottenham before Tuesday’s deadline.

Newcastle have not given up hope of signing Matias Fernandez-Pardo before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

Wrexham have signed Manchester City right-back Issa Kabore on a three-year deal for £2m.

Chelsea are progressing in talks with Atalanta over their 18-year-old defender Honest Ahanor.

Arsenal could offer Viktor Gyokeres and Gabriel Jesus in part-exchange for Julian Alvarez, according to Sky Sports.

Aston Villa have agreed a deal to sell Ollie Watkins to Al Hilal and are set to replace him with Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson.

Chelsea are ready to make a last-ditch mega offer to sign Alex Scott as a replacement for Enzo Fernandez.
