Troops arrest five kidnappers, recover AK-47 rifles in Borno

Troops of Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai, have arrested five suspected kidnappers and recovered arms and ammunition during a security operation in Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State.

The operation, carried out based on credible intelligence, targeted a known criminal corridor used by suspected kidnappers and other criminal elements operating within the area.

According to military authorities, the troops successfully apprehended five members of a suspected kidnapping syndicate believed to be responsible for a series of attacks and abductions affecting residents of the local government area.

Items recovered during the operation included two AK-47 rifles, magazines and ammunition. Security officials said the seizure has significantly weakened the operational capacity of the criminal group and prevented further attacks on innocent civilians.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects are linked to kidnapping and other criminal activities in parts of Borno State.

The arrested suspects are currently in military custody and are assisting investigators with information aimed at tracking down other members of the syndicate and dismantling its support network.

Military authorities described the operation as part of ongoing efforts by Operation Hadin Kai to sustain pressure on terrorists, kidnappers and other criminal groups threatening peace and security in the North-East.

They reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to protecting lives and property while pursuing lasting peace and stability across the region.
