Troops arrest suspected gun-runner, recover weapons in Taraba

Troops deployed to Ibi and the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Wukari have arrested a suspected gun-runner and recovered weapons, ammunition, and other items during an intelligence-led operation in Taraba State.

Security sources said the operation followed credible intelligence about a suspicious Peugeot vehicle heading toward the Ibi waterside area. Acting swiftly, the troops mobilised and intercepted the vehicle, leading to the arrest of the suspect.

The suspect, identified as 48-year-old Abubakar Ibrahim from Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, was apprehended during the operation.

Authorities said the recovered weapons and ammunition are now in custody as investigations continue.
