Troops arrest terrorist collaborators, nine others in Yobe

Troops of the 233 Tank Battalion have arrested nine suspected terrorist collaborators, including an alleged syndicate leader, during a covert operation in Damaturu, Yobe State.

The arrests were made at about 11:20 p.m. on October 5, 2026, following credible intelligence on the activities of a suspected terrorist collaboration network operating in the Damaturu metropolis.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the troops apprehended the alleged leader and eight other members of the network during the operation.

Items recovered from the suspects included a vehicle, 10 mobile phones, seven ATM cards, seven caps, two cartons of dried fish and N376,400 in cash.

The suspects and recovered items were subsequently handed over to the Headquarters of Sector 2, Operation Hadin Kai, for further investigation.

The arrests are expected to help security authorities unravel the activities of the suspected network, identify its contacts and determine its possible links to terrorist elements operating in the North-East.
