Operation Hadin Kai has dismissed reports claiming that insurgents from Islamic State West Africa Province and Boko Haram have established a new enclave in Tuba, Jere Local Government Area of Borno State, describing the claims as false and misleading.
Military sources involved in the counterinsurgency operation said the reports circulating online were deliberately designed to spread fear and misinform the public.
According to the sources, troops of the 212 Battalion under Operation Hadin Kai recently conducted clearance operations across several communities in the area, including Tuba, Dusuman, Jabarmari, Gongulong, and Ngom.
The operations also covered key routes such as the Maiduguri–Monguno and Maiduguri–Mafa highways.
The sources stated that the troops found no evidence of any terrorist enclave, concentration, or unusual insurgent movement in the areas mentioned in the reports.
They expressed concern over the circulation of what they described as unverified and sensational claims, warning that such reports could undermine national security efforts.
The military sources further alleged that some media platforms were promoting narratives that do not reflect the reality on the ground and could create unnecessary panic among residents.
