The troops of Operation Whirl Punch and Special Forces of the 167 Battalion have killed a bandit during a gun duel in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The troops, who embarked on a long-range fighting patrol to Tukurua general area of Chikun LGA, also rescued 14 kidnapped victims, comprising nine men and five women during the operation.
This was disclosed via a statement issued on Saturday by the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan.

Aruwan revealed that the rescued victims have been moved to a secure location for debriefing and examination before being reunited with their families.
The commissioner noted that the troops destroyed several camps of the bandits, adding that two motorcycles were recovered from the gunmen.
In his reaction, the governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, commended the troops and praised the leadership of Major General TA Lagbaja, GOC One Division and Force Commander of Operation Whirl Punch.
Governor El-Rufai also extolled the professional prowess of the troops for rescuing all the kidnapped victims alive and unhurt.
