Troops nab 46 illegal immigrants in Ogun raid

The troops of the Nigerian Army have apprehended 46 suspected illegal immigrants residing in Ogun State.

The Nigerian Army said the operation carried out in conjunction with the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Nigeria Immigration Service followed an intelligence.

The army, in a statement issued on Monday by the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, 35 Artillery Brigade, Major Idereghi Akari, said the operation, which commenced on June 11, 2026, led to the arrest of the suspects at various locations within Ijebu Imushin, Ijebu Ilese, and surrounding communities.

Akari stated that preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects, comprising 36 males and 10 females, had allegedly been residing in Ogun State for approximately six months without valid immigration documentation.

The army spokesman listed the suspects to include 18 nationals of Burkina Faso, 23 nationals of Cote d’Ivoire, four nationals of Togo, and one national of Senegal.

He added that the suspects have since been handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service, Ogun State Command, for further investigation and appropriate administrative action in accordance with extant laws.
