Security forces in Benue State have successfully repelled an armed bandit attack on Ankpali Village in Apa Local Government Area.
According to sources, the attack occurred at about 2:45 a.m. on Wednesday, prompting a distress call to the Nigerian Army and police. Reinforcements, including 80 personnel from the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), were deployed to the area.
In the ensuing confrontation, the bandits were forced to flee, with one assailant killed. His body was retrieved and taken to the local mortuary.
Authorities said operations are ongoing to track down and apprehend the remaining attackers.
Residents praised the rapid response of the security forces, saying their prompt action prevented further loss of lives and property.
