Troops, police repel bandits attack in Zamfara

Troops of Operation Fansan Yanma, working alongside police tactical teams, have successfully repelled an attack by suspected bandits on Yankaba Village in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 6:00 p.m. on Saturday when armed bandits stormed the community and began shooting sporadically, causing panic among residents.

In response to the attack, troops of Operation Fansan Yanma and other security agencies were swiftly deployed to the area and engaged the assailants in a gun battle.

According to the sources, the attackers were eventually forced to retreat after encountering superior firepower from the security operatives. The bandits subsequently abandoned their mission and fled the community.

Troops have since intensified patrols and surveillance in and around the area to prevent further attacks.

Security monitoring and operations are ongoing to ensure the continued safety of residents in the community, the sources added.
