Troops repel ISWAP attack on Doron Baga base, kill several terrorists

Troops of Sector 3 of Operation Hadin Kai have repelled an early morning attack by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters on a military base in Doron Baga, killing several insurgents during the clash.

Security sources said the terrorists launched the assault at about 2:12 a.m., targeting the military facility in Kukawa Local Government Area.

The attack triggered a fierce gun battle that lasted about 55 minutes as troops engaged the insurgents and maintained tactical superiority throughout the confrontation.

According to the sources, the fighting eventually subsided at about 5:50 a.m. after the attackers were forced to retreat.

Several terrorists were reportedly neutralised during the encounter, while troops recorded no casualties or loss of equipment.

Security officials, however, expressed concerns about the possibility of a follow-up attack and urged soldiers and other security operatives in the area to remain vigilant and sustain heightened security measures.

Troops have since intensified patrols and follow-up operations to prevent any resurgence of terrorist activities around the community.
