Troops rescue two kidnap victims in Kogi

Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued two women abducted by suspected bandits from a farmland in Ajodomodo Village, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2, when the assailants reportedly stormed the farm and seized the victims before escaping into the surrounding forest.

Following a distress call, troops of the 21 Battalion Quick Reaction Force mobilised and pursued the kidnappers along their escape route towards Agbodakodo Forest.

The military’s pursuit reportedly put the abductors under pressure, forcing them to abandon the victims in the forest as they fled.

The rescued victims were identified as 15-year-old Miss Mohammed Rahinat and 30-year-old Mrs Hassanatu Mohammed.

Both women were evacuated to the 21 Battalion Medical Reception Station, where they received medical attention and underwent further assessment.

The Army said its troops have sustained operations in the area in an effort to locate the fleeing suspects and safeguard farming communities from further attacks.

The successful rescue underscores the importance of prompt military intervention and timely information from communities in tackling kidnapping and other criminal activities in rural areas.
