Governor Uba Sani says his administration is investing heavily to transform Kaduna’s transport sector, including ₦30 billion counterpart funding for the Kaduna Bus Rapid Transit (KBRT) in partnership with the Agence Française de Développement (AFD).
Speaking at the 7th National Transport Conference, Sani said the 24km KBRT corridor from Rigachikun to Sabon Tasha will use 120 CNG buses, cut emissions by 38%, save commuters ₦1.8 billion annually, and create over 14,000 jobs.
He also revealed plans for a Kaduna Light Rail Project, a ₦500 million subsidy-free ride scheme for students and workers, and the construction of 200 new bus stops across the state.
The governor said the Modern Interstate Bus Terminal in Kakuri is 75% complete, while new Trailer Parks at Tafa (60%) and Maraban Jos (30%) are being upgraded.
Sani added that his government cleared ₦70 million debt owed by Kaduna Line and introduced E-ticketing and other digital reforms to improve efficiency.
