Uba Sani’s CON award well-deserved recognition — Kaduna SSG

The Secretary to the Kaduna State Government, Dr. AbdulKadir Mu’azu Meyere, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for recognizing individuals whose sacrifices were instrumental in ushering in Nigeria’s democratic era following prolonged military rule.

In a statement issued on Friday, Dr. Meyere expressed deep appreciation for the President’s gesture in conferring national honours on distinguished Nigerians, including members of his political constituency—some of them posthumously.

Dr. Meyere described the award of Commander of the Order of Nigeria (CON) bestowed on Governor Uba Sani as a “fitting recognition of a patriot who risked everything for democracy.”

He recalled that both Sani and President Tinubu actively participated in the struggle for democratic governance, often putting themselves in harm’s way while many of today’s political actors remained on the sidelines.

The statement also paid tribute to the resilience of millions of ordinary Nigerians whose persistent demand for democratic rule empowered the efforts of civil rights activists, journalists, and human rights lawyers in pushing the military out of power.

According to Dr. Meyere, Sani’s commitment to the welfare of the people has remained steadfast beyond the democratic transition.

He cited the Governor’s pro-poor legislative initiatives as a senator and his people-focused programs as governor of Kaduna as clear evidence of this dedication.

He further described the national honour as “the icing on the cake” of the numerous awards and recognitions Sani has received since assuming office two years ago.

The Secretary called on public servants in the state to intensify their efforts in implementing the Governor’s rural transformation, human capital development, and infrastructure agenda for the betterment of all citizens.

Dr. Meyere added that the prestigious national recognition will further inspire Governor Uba Sani—fondly referred to as “the Comrade Governor”—to deliver more democratic dividends and contribute meaningfully to the actualization of the APC-led Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Finally, he thanked the people of Kaduna State for their continued support of the governor’s administration over the past two years.
