The management of Ambrose Alli University (AAU) in the Ekpoma area of Edo State has cancelled the final year examinations written on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, over a wild jubilation on campus.
The AAU Registrar, Ephraim Isiraojie, made this known via a memo on Thursday, January 30.
Isiraojie said the decision followed the wild jubilation and celebration by graduating students from the Faculty of Arts, which he noted violated the university’s directives.
Isiraojie said in spite of memos prohibiting such celebrations, students from the departments of Mass Communication, English, and History and International Studies engaged in car displays.
He said the students used sirens, sprayed money, and blocked access roads leading in and out of the university.
The AAU Registrar stated: “The university management in an emergency meeting, held on Wednesday, 29th January, 2025, has decided to invoke the extant laws on wild jubilation/celebration.

“The management has thereby cancelled all the final year examinations written on Wednesday, 29th January, 2025, including but not limited to the following: ELS41I; MAC 414; IIIS416.
“The university management shall decide in due course when such cancelled examinations shall be rescheduled.”
Isiraojie said the cancellation of the examinations should serve as a deterrent to all graduating students, who were yet to complete their final year examinations.
He emphasised that the university’s management was keen on maintaining order and discipline on campus.
