Confirming the fire outbreak, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), in a statement issued by its Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said an investigation revealed that the immediate cause of the incident was due to a power surge after electricity was restored.

Oke-Osanyintolu noted that the fire which started at No. 47 Dosunmu Street escalated to four buildings on the street, adding that one of the affected buildings collapsed as a result of the impact of the inferno.
