VIDEO: Fire razes 5 buildings in Lagos

Fire has razed a four-storey building used as a residential building and shops for the sale of fabrics and four other structures at Dosunmu Street in the Lagos Island area of Lagos State.

It was gathered that the fire incident occurred at about 7:01 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.

Confirming the fire outbreak, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), in a statement issued by its Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said an investigation revealed that the immediate cause of the incident was due to a power surge after electricity was restored.

Oke-Osanyintolu noted that the fire which started at No. 47 Dosunmu Street escalated to four buildings on the street, adding that one of the affected buildings collapsed as a result of the impact of the inferno.
