The Administrative and Finance Committee of the West African Examinations Council has passed a vote of confidence in the leadership of the Nigeria National Office headed by Dr. Amos Dangut.
The decision was reached at the Committee’s 240th meeting held in Ibadan, Oyo State, where members reviewed the council’s administrative and financial operations.
The Committee, WAEC’s highest advisory body on such matters in Nigeria, said it was satisfied with the management’s performance, describing it as efficient, disciplined and professionally driven.
It also commended Dr. Dangut and his team for maintaining operational stability, particularly during the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates in 2026.
According to the Committee, the examination has progressed without disruption despite recent concerns involving staff unions.
After reviewing activities, the Committee reaffirmed its support for the current leadership and expressed confidence in its ability to sustain WAEC’s mandate across the region.
It also warned against any actions capable of undermining the institution’s credibility and integrity.
WAEC management assured candidates, parents and education authorities that examination operations nationwide remain stable and on track, pledging continued commitment to transparency, staff welfare and a peaceful working environment.
The statement was issued on Tuesday by the Public Affairs Department and signed by Acting Head of Public Affairs, Moyosola F. Adesina.
The endorsement comes amid ongoing engagement between WAEC and staff unions over workplace concerns during the conduct of the 2026 examination exercise.
