Wigwe University in the Isiokpo area of Rivers State is set to become the most expensive in Nigeria with school fees of over N12 million.

Wigwe University founded by the late former Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings, Herbert Wigwe, is set to officially launch operational activities by August 2024.

The university will offer programmes in four major colleges, including the College of Arts, the College of Management and Social Sciences, the College of Science and Computing, and the College of Engineering.

Wigwe died in a helicopter crash alongside his wife Chizoba, and son Chizzy in California, United States on February 9.

However, a publication on the university’s website revealed that the cheapest college is Arts with a total fee of N9.6 million.

This includes tuition (N8,000,000); books, laboratory supplies and consumables, personal protective equipment, project lab resources (N800,000); e-learning resources (N320,000); health insurance (N200,000); student membership of professional associations (N40,000); student activities (N80,000); and facilities maintenance (N160,000).

Students taking courses in the College of Engineering, College of Management and Social Sciences, and College of Science and Computing will pay a total fee of N11,998,800 each.

The students are expected to pay additional charges including accommodation fees which include the luxury single bedroom apartment plan (N1,000,000 / per month); premium one en-suite bedroom plan (N3,845,000  per session); classic one plan (N3,707,000 / per session); and classic two plan (N3,500,000 / per session).
