Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has said the children of the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Iyorchia Ayu, will disown him if what he has done in the main opposition party is revealed.
Wike, who said this in an interview with journalists in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital on Friday, also accused Ayu of collecting N100 million bribe from a governor elected on the platform of the party.
“Let me also tell you, Ayu collected N100m from a governor. I am telling you of a governor.
“Let him (Ayu) say no that it was not true and I will tell you the governor. These are things people don’t know.

“If not for the love of this party, if we release what we have, Ayu’s children will tell him that ‘You are no longer our daddy’,” Governor Wike said.
He added that Ayu should resign his position as the PDP chairman, noting that the former senator promised to resign if the party’s presidential candidate comes from the North.
“We have not done primary and a man came out and said if the presidential candidate comes from my region (North), I will leave. Honour it. It is integrity and part of the hallmark of leadership.
“If he cannot do that, how can you tell Nigerians that anything the PDP tells you, we would do it?” Wike said.
The governor has since been at loggerheads with Ayu over calls for the latter’s resignation.
Wike and his allies had called for the resignation of the PDP chairman as a condition to campaign for the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, ahead of the 2023 polls, adding that the former senator should step down for a southerner.
