The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, says the national convention of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will hold as scheduled on March 29 and 30, 2026.
Wike stated this while interacting with newsmen after inspecting some ongoing projects in the FCT on Friday, March 27, 2026.
The minister’s response followed calls from some stakeholders for postponement of the convention to give time for reconciling the Tanimu Turaki-led faction with that of Abdulrahman Mohammed, being supported by Wike.
He said discussions on reconciliation could continue after the convention, adding that holding the convention does not necessarily preclude reconciliation.

“The PDP national convention will go on as planned. Nobody will stop us,” he said, insisting there’s no faction in PDP but only aggrieved members.
Wike said he had met with Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed over the planned convention and told him that the convention had to go on.
“People are angry, yes. When a child is angry, well, you will try to see how you can pacify him, but that does not mean that you will allow the child to destroy the house that you have built,” he stated.
