Wike: Our support for Tinubu will continue, just as when it was difficult

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has restated his commitment to President Bola Tinubu, recalling that he and his allies supported Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election when doing so was difficult in Rivers State.

Wike said they would continue to stand behind the President now that circumstances are easier.

He spoke in Ochigba, Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State, during a meeting with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders at an end-of-year thanksgiving service hosted by former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chibudom Nwuche.

Wike urged party members to remain steadfast and continue supporting Tinubu despite political pressure, insisting that their efforts would not be in vain.

According to him, those who backed Tinubu early are different from people who only now declare support.

He said many political figures were reluctant to openly campaign for Tinubu before the election, but his group chose to take a stand — a decision he believes has since paid off.

Wike emphasized that politics requires commitment and keeping agreements, adding that he and his supporters will continue to stand by Tinubu in line with earlier understandings.

He also hinted that active politics would resume from January, reiterating that promises must be honored.

The minister thanked his supporters for their loyalty and noted that criticism against him comes from his insistence on sticking to agreements.

He assured them that their position remains unchanged: continued support for President Tinubu.
