Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has endorsed his Lagos State counterpart, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for a second term in office, saying any party contesting against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state “is wasting time”.
Wike was quoted as saying in a series of tweets on the Twitter handle of Sanwo-Olu’s Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile, on Tuesday.
“Any party contesting against APC in Lagos is wasting time. Sanwo-Olu is a super performing Governor. – Gov. Nyesom Wike.
“Breaking: Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike endorsed his Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for 2nd term in office. Details later…,” Akosile tweeted.
Governor Wike has been at loggerheads with the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Iyorchia Ayu, over calls for the latter’s resignation.

The governor, who lost the PDP presidential primaries to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in May, and his allies have since been calling for the removal of Ayu as a condition to campaign for the party’s presidential candidate ahead of the 2023 general election.
The governor and his loyalists maintained that Ayu should step down for a southerner.
Governor Wike and his allies, on September 20, announced their withdrawal from the PDP presidential campaign council.
They also boycotted the inauguration of the party’s campaign council held on September 28 in Abuja.
The crisis bedevilling the main opposition party ahead of the next year’s general election took a new turn on Monday after Wike accused Ayu of collecting N1 billion from Atiku before the PDP presidential primaries held in Abuja.
