A woman has been confirmed dead in an accident at Mangoro, inward Ile-Zik in Lagos State.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the road crash via a statement issued by its General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, on Sunday, August 2, 2026.
Bakare-Oki said preliminary security investigations showed that the deceased, driving a Toyota Sienna, lost control of the vehicle.
Bakare-Oki said the car veered off the carriageway and crashed into a roadside building, resulting in the woman’s death.
He disclosed that the woman was the sole occupant of the vehicle when the incident occurred.
Bakare-Oki said LASTMA personnel on routine surveillance patrol responded promptly and deployed safety cones to secure the affected roadway.
He said the crash temporarily disrupted vehicular movement, but swift intervention by LASTMA officers restored traffic flow within a short time.

The LASTMA boss added that operatives from Afonka Police Post provided security support and remained at the scene throughout the evacuation exercise.
Bakare-Oki described the incident as a heartbreaking reminder of the devastating consequences of excessive speed and reckless driving.
Bakare-Oki said speed limits were not mere statutory requirements but essential safeguards designed to protect motorists and other road users.
He urged motorists to ensure their vehicles were mechanically sound before embarking on any journey, adding that any indication of mechanical defect or operational malfunction should require immediate repairs before further driving.
