Bandits have killed no fewer than 12 people and abducted women and children during an attack on Lajinge in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
Residents disclosed that bandits entered the village of Lajinge at about 11 p.m. on Saturday and attacked residents until about 3 a.m. on Sunday, August 2, 2026.
One of the residents said six members of one family were burned to death after the assailants set fire to their house.
“They killed at least 12 people, injured four others, abducted women and children after rustling many livestock,” a resident, Auwal Hassan, said on Sunday.

Speaking, the Sokoto State Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Rufai, said police were investigating and would provide updates later.
The attack comes a week after bandits killed no fewer than 24 farmers in neighbouring Zamfara State.
