The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State has dissociated itself from the activities and recent statements made by Abayomi Semako, ahead of the 2027 general election.
The APC stressed that Semako’s actions didn’t represent the position of the party or its members in the local government.
The ruling party, in a statement made available go newsmen on Saturday, August 29, 2026, said its members across the local government remained united in their support of the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State.
The party emphasised that the decision to support Yayi was based on his exemplary record of infrastructure development and human capital empowerment.
The APC added that Yayi’s candidacy represents a crucial opportunity for Ogun West to finally produce the next governor of the state after decades of waiting.
Describing Yayi as a credible and competent candidate, the APC noted that his acceptance across Ogun State has strengthened the aspirations of the people of Ogun West.
It noted that the zone deserves an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the leadership and development of Ogun State.
The party, therefore rejected any claims of support for Semako, stating that he does not enjoy the backing of Tube Ward or the APC in Ipokia Local Government.
Shettima to well-wishers: Don’t place adverts to celebrate my 60th birthday
The leadership called on APC members and the general public to disregard any statements or actions attributed to Semako that purport to represent the party’s position in Ipokia.
It stated: “Our party and its members have consistently maintained unified and unwavering support for the candidature of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, fondly called Yayi, as the gubernatorial candidate of our great party. We firmly believe in his vision and leadership.
“His record of infrastructural development and human capital empowerment in all facets of governance is unprecedented and legendary.
“We are convinced that his acceptance across Ogun State gives genuine hope that Yewa land will finally break the jinx, after fifty years of the creation of Ogun State, and produce a governor who will prioritise the welfare of our people.”
