‘You were all over me’ — Woman accuses RCCG pastor of attempted rape

A pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God is facing serious allegations of sexual misconduct after a young woman publicly accused him of attempted sexual assault in a video that has gone viral on social media.

In the video, the woman alleged that the incident occurred during a visit to the pastor’s residence, where she had gone to deliver food.

She claimed that while at his home, the cleric made unwanted advances on her which she repeatedly refused, and that the situation escalated into an attempt to sexually assault her.

She further alleged that when her resistance persisted, the pastor made an additional sexual demand.

The pastor was also seen in the video, attempting to interject and challenge her account as she spoke.

The allegations have generated widespread and divided reactions online. Some commenters called for a proper investigation, with one noting that financial influence often determines outcomes in such cases in Nigeria.

Others expressed support for the woman’s account, pointing to details in her narration as indicative of credibility.

A section of social media users, however, questioned the woman’s account, with some suggesting personal motives, while others raised concerns about the broader pattern of misconduct within religious institutions.

The incident has renewed public debate about accountability and transparency in Nigerian churches, and the adequacy of existing mechanisms for handling misconduct allegations against religious leaders. The RCCG has not issued a public statement on the matter as of the time of this report.

The allegations remain unverified, and the pastor has not been charged with any offence.

THE STAR could not independently confirm the claims made in the video. The matter has been referred to relevant authorities for investigation.
