‘Your administration started well’: Kebbi monarch hails Gov Idris

The Emir of Gwandu, Muhammad Iliyasu-Bashar, has lauded the administration of Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris, for starting on a sound footing.

The monarch, who is also the Chairman of the Kebbi State Council of Chiefs, stated that with just few months in office, the governor dashed out fertlisers free to farmers to boost farming activities across the state.

Iliyasu-Bashar said this when he paid a courtesy visit to Idris at Government House in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital, on Wednesday, July 26, 2023.

He added that recently, the governor awarded a contract for rehabilitation, expansion, and construction of roads in the state capital.

On the essence of his visit, the Emir said it was meant to rejoice with Governor Idris over his victory in the 2023 governorship election and to register loyalty and support to the new administration in Kebbi State.

Responding, Idris appreciated the monarch for the visit and assured that the execution of projects was just the beginning of many goodies to come.

He said the essence of governance was to ensure capital development as well as human development, saying: “In governance, there is need for both physical and human development.”

Idris assured that very soon the state capital would wear a new look following the infrastructure development that would be carried out.

The governor added that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) would soon be signed on completion of the state secretariat project with a view to accommodating all workers.

He told the Emir that his administration was doing everything possible to tackle insecurity, especially in the southern part of the state.

“We are taking serious measures to tackle insecurity, especially in the southern part of Kebbi State. We are happy with the supply of sophisticated assets from Inspector-General of Police, these vehicles will surely assist the security agencies in their sustained fight against crime and criminalities across the state,” Governor Idris said.
