Zacheaus Adangor resigns as Rivers Attorney General

The Rivers State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Zacheaus Adangor, has resigned from his position.

Adangor made his resignation known via a letter dated November 14, 2023, and addressed to Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara.

Adangor was one of the cabinet members of the immediate past governor of Rivers State and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, reappointed by Fubara,

He, however, hinged his resignation on personal principles.

He stated: “I hereby give Your Excellency Notice of my resignation as the Honourable Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Rivers State with effect from the date of this letter.

“For the avoidance of doubt, my resignation from the said office is based on personal principles.

“I wish to thank Your Excellency for the opportunity and privilege granted me to serve in your administration as a member of the cabinet. My Family and I are indebted to Your Excellency in gratitude.”

The latest development is coming barely 24 hours after the Rivers State Government demolished the state House of Assembly complex in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

The state government, however, explained the reasons behind the demolition on Wednesday.

Governor Fubara, on Wednesday, also presented the 2024 budget to five lawmakers in the state.

The governor presented the budget after the House Speaker declared vacant, the seats of the 27 lawmakers who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
