The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested 13 suspects in connection with the murder of a naval officer, Lt. Commodore M. Buba, in the Kawo area of Kaduna State.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, the incident occurred around 5:20 a.m. on Sunday, near the Kawo flyover. Lt. Cdr. Buba, a senior course student at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, was reportedly attacked by a suspected phone snatcher while attempting to change a flat tyre on his vehicle.
The assailant allegedly approached the officer and demanded his mobile phone.
When the officer refused and questioned the demand, the attacker stabbed him in the chest with a locally made knife.
The attacker was immediately confronted and overpowered by passersby, who mobbed and killed him at the scene. Lt. Cdr. Buba was rushed to Manaal Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

In the aftermath of the attack, police operatives conducted a raid in the Kawo area, leading to the arrest of 13 individuals found in possession of knives and other dangerous weapons.
The Kaduna State Police Command has launched an investigation into the incident and is working to determine the involvement of the arrested suspects.
