15 die in Niger road crash

No fewer than 15 persons have died in a ghastly accident that involved a truck and a tanker along the Agaie-Lapai Road, Niger State.

It was gathered that the crash occurred on Saturday when the truck driver lost control and rammed into the tanker packed by the roadside due to the dilapidated state of Agaie-Lapai road.

Confirming the incident via a statement issued by the chairman of Agaie council, Hon. Ibrahim Halil Sayuti, said many lives have been lost through accidents on the Agaie-Lapai Road, Niger State.

Sayuti said: “This is not the first time this is happening in this same year. We have had a scenario of tanker carrying petroleum product also loosing control and got burnt where many lives were lost.

The emir of Agaie, Alhaji Yusuf Nuhu, in a statement signed by the secretary of the emirate council, announced that the funeral of the victims will hold later in Agaie Emir’s palace.
