Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has promised to provide “logistics support” for the campaign of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, ahead of the 2023 general election.
Wike made this known while speaking at the inauguration of the Nkpolu-Oroworokwo Flyover by Obi in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, on Thursday.
Wike, who said the LP presidential candidate is capable to lead Nigeria, stated: “Each time you want to campaign in the state, let me know, all the logistics support, we will give to you.”

Wike and his allies, Governors Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), have since been calling for the resignation of the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sen. Iyorchia Ayu.
The aggrieved governors known as G5 have insisted that it is unfair for the main opposition party to have the national chairman and presidential candidate from the northern region of the country, saying Ayu should resign his position for justice, equity, and fairness in the PDP.
Governor Wike and his associates demanded the resignation of the PDP chairman as a condition for them to campaign for the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, ahead of the next year’s general election.
